They punched the jeweller and ran off with the gold. Two thieves who have not been identified entered the Senak jewellery store in Kyrenia, tied up Gülesan Aksay before running away with everything they could get their hands on. The owner of Senak Jewellery story Hüseyin Aksay who spoke to Yenidüzen said that the two had entered story two days ago.

Robbers get away with jewellery worth 150,000 Pounds Sterling

Two men who entered the Senak jewellery store in Kyrenia, tied up Gülesan Aksay, injured her by banging her head on the counter before taking off with all the jewellery they could get their hands on including 15,000 Turkish Liras in cash.

  • Citizens are having to deal with mosquitos, municipalities say they have taken precautions – The overwhelming number of mosquitos this summer has created the perception among the public that the municipalities are not doing enough to deal with the problem. Officials from six municipalities who spoke to Kıbrıs said that measures were in place to curb the increase in the mosquito population. They said that the pools of water created by the increased rainfall this winter had created ideal breeding grounds for mosquitos leading to an increase in their population.

Fearless robbery

The Senak Gold & Diamond jewellery store in Kyrenia was robbed by two men on Thursday morning. The robbers injured the store owners and fled with two bags of jewels and money.

  • They headed to the South – Long queues formed at the Metehan (Ayios Dhometios) crossing point on Thursday as Turkish Cypriots preferred to spend the last day of the Bayram holiday in the South.

Just a day after an armed fight took place in Nicosia’s historic Arasta shopping area, a jewellery store was robbed in Kyrenia’s old harbour. The robbers fearlessly robbed the store in broad daylight. They tied the hands and mouth of the store owner before making off with 100,000 Pounds Sterling worth of diamonds, 250,000 Turkish Lira worth of gold and 15,000 Turkish Lira that was in the store’s safe.

Jewellery robbed

Robbers did not stand idle during Bayram holiday in crime haven TRNC. Jewellery store named Senak was robbed in Kyrenia on Thursday. Two men who entered the store first neutralized owner Hüseyin Aksay’s wife Gülesan Aksay before running off with gold of yet to be determined value. Police said the two suspects were seen near Kyrenia Gate in Nicosia and the Gülseren area in Famagusta. Police has called upon the public to help catch the two suspects.

Long queues formed at Metehan (Ayios Dhometios) crossing point during Bayram holiday

Yenidüzen and Havadis reported on Friday that long ques formed at the Metehan (Ayios Dhometios) crossing point as Turkish Cypriots chose to spend the last day of their Bayram holiday in the South. A similar scene was experienced on the second day of the three-day Bayram holiday. The dailies said that the queue, more than a kilometre long, was formed in the early hours of the morning. Most of northern Nicosia was quiet and the streets empty, the dailies added. 

The papers also said that the Lokmacı (Ledra Street) crossing point was also extremely busy as usual.
