All eyes on the recommendation for seven-day quarantine requirement

While doctors have expressed support to the recommendation made by the Contagious Diseases Committee to place all arriving passengers from Turkey in quarantine for seven days, it is claimed that the cabinet and finance ministry has not welcomed the idea. The Finance Minister Olgun Amcaoğlu has denied the claims stating that they will introduce the measure if necessary.

Here is the solution

Head of Net Holding’s Board of Trustees Besim Tibuk has proposed the conversion of the 45-room ‘Queen Aphrodite Hotel’ into a pandemic hospital rent-free for a whole year. It’s been reported that Tibuk tabled the proposal to Prime Minister Ersin Tatar yesterday (Friday). The hotel in Alsancak (Karavas) is perfectly located with its mountain and sea view. The facilities are also impressive.

And this is our Hagia Sofia. Our people got exhilarated with the opening of Hagia Sophia as a mosque in Turkey, which is swiftly turning into a country run by sharia laws. Prime Minister Ersin Tatar, Turkish Ambassador Ali Murat Başçeri, Agriculture Minister Dursun Oğuz, General Director of Evkaf Administration of Cyprus İbrahim Benter and others attended Friday prayers at the Selimiye Mosque in north Nicosia. The mosque was formerly known as Hagia Sophia Catherdal before the arrival of the Ottomans.

  • Students will get their PCR tests for free – Turkish Cypriot Health Minister Ali Pilli said students will be tested for free.
  • Three days given to the government for seven-day mandatory quarantine – Six trade unions whose members work at entry points to the north, gave the government a three-day deadline to introduce a mandatory quarantine requirement. They warned otherwise they will go on strike.

OVERVIEW

Urgent restoration work on the collapsed section of the Cephane (Quirini) Bastion on the historic Nicosia walls is nearing completion, President Mustafa Akıncı’s office announced on Friday.

The work being carried out by the bicommunal Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage is funded by the EU.

A statement issued said that the restoration work on the bastion on which Akınc’s office is located had reached its final stage and that the stones had been placed back in their original structure.

The Turkish Cypriot member of the committee Ali Tuncay said that some of the worn-out stones on the wall had been replaced with new ones acquired from the same quarry from which the original stone was cut out from.

Tuncay added that a technique had been used to give the stones an aged look.

He also said that a surface area of 5000m2 along 1km of the old walls had been cleared of shrubs and vegetation.

Tuncay said the work is expected to be completed by the end of August.

The section mentioned stretches from Kyrenia Gate to Zahra (Mula) Bastion.

The second phase will include the section between Kyrenia Gate and Çağlayan (Chaglayan).
