Carcinogenic Ivomec far from inspections
Anti-parasitic vaccinations for cattle in Europe are carried out under strict veterinarian supervision and control. However, the farmers in the north are not aware or informed of this. Hüseyin Ataben, Director of the Veterinary Department, said it is not possible to test for Ivomec injection in the north due to lack of laboratories.

Blasts rocked Çatalköy (Agios Epiktitos) Thursday after a fire broke out in a military zone around 1am. Shrapnel rained from the sky as a result of the explosions at an ammunition depot.

The forest fire near Çatalköy (Agios Epiktitos) junction swiftly spread to an ammunition depot in the area. Blasts continued until the early hours of the morning. Security forces evacuated Arapköy (Klepini) and KIBTEK (TC Electricity authority) cut off power in the area as a precaution.
- The courts should set the example for the government – Narin Ferdi Şefik, President of the Supreme Court, will not hold a ceremony for the opening of the judicial year. Instead, she announced the funds will be used to improve the IT infrastructure at the courts.

EL-SEN announced the amount owed by Suat Günsel, owner of the Near East University to the public. Günsel is now suing Kubilay Özkıraç, President of EL-SEN (trade union for TC electricity authority workers).
- Press conference instead of a ceremony – Narin Şefik, President of Supreme Court, said they took the decision given the economic situation in the country. The funds allocated for the ceremony for the opening of the judicial year will instead be utilized for the courts’ needs.

Blasts rocked Çatalköy (Agios Epiktitos) Thursday after a fire broke out in a military zone in the early hours of the morning, which spread to an ammunition depot.
The explosion shattered glass at a nearby hotel and homes, slightly injuring a number of people.
The fire is believed to have started a little before 2 am.
There have been no casualties while only minor injuries have been reported.
Diyalog and Kıbrıs newspaper reported that three people were taken to hospital with cuts from the shattered glass.
The area was cordoned off immediately by the army and police.
Roads were closed and the power was cut as a precautionary measure.
It is not yet known what caused the fire.
Havadis reported that the residents of nearby Arapköy (Klepini) were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Guests and customers at the Acapulco hotel located right next to the military zone spent the night on the hotel’s beach as part of precautionary measures.
President Mustafa Akıncı, Prime Minister Ersin Tatar, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay and the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dursun Oğuz went to the area where they were briefed by officials at the scene.
Speaking at the scene, Akıncı said it was fortunate that there was no loss of life.
Tatar called on the public to remain calm, stating that what was important was that everyone should remain safe.
The military, fire department and civil defence units worked around the clock to bring the fire under control once the explosions stopped.

President Mustafa Akıncı on Wednesday said that real political will and determination was needed to solve the Cyprus Problem.
“I will continue to show that political will,” Akıncı said in a post on social media.
He pointed out that the Cyprus Problem was multidimensional which was why meetings were held with different parties in search of a solution.
“All these efforts have culminated in a serious body of work over the years that included agreed principles and documents. What we need now is real political will and determination. No one should have any doubts that we shall continue to demonstrate that will which we have been doing so from the very beginning of the process. The public’s confidence and support will be the most essential and determining factor in this process,” he said.

Tatar: Turkey’s leadership on gas gives TCs confidence

Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Ersin Tatar said on Tuesday that the leadership shown by Turkey on the issue of hydrocarbons in the Eastern Mediterranean gave confidence to Turkish Cypriots.
He said that the Greek Cypriot side which benefited from international recognition, signed deals with international firms for hydrocarbon activities, violating the rights of Turkish Cypriots in the process.
Tatar recalled that Turkish Cypriots, as equal partners of the 1960 Republic of Cyprus (RoC), had rights over the island’s natural resources.

Police investigate theft of Turkish flag and posters

Police are investigating a claim that a Greek Cypriot man stole a Turkish flag and posters of Atatürk and Rauf Denktaş from the primary school in Akdoğan (Lysi), Kıbrıs Postası reported on Thursday.
The incident is believed to have taken place on Sunday, 8 September, when former Greek Cypriot residents of Akdoğan (Lysi) arrived at the village to attend a religious service at Panayia church.
CCTV footage from the school’s security cameras shows an individual stealing the flag and posters.
The school headmaster expressed anger over the incident with a post on social media.
He said that the relevant authorities had been informed of the theft which was believed to have been carried out by a Greek Cypriot.
